Everyone was up well before the sparrows this morning, we
had phaffed around for quite a while and it was still only 8.30.
During this time we had a visit from Robyne from work and
husband Mark.
So off we went to check out the Big Chair…it was very, very windy and the
cameras had to be very low to the ground for the obligatory group shot. We
actually had to wait for the Miner’s Memorial and Café to open, only to find
that they had been broken into the night before and it was EFTPOS only. No
worries for us, coffees etc all around.
After the view over the town and Miners Memorial for some,
we then went several separate ways to White’s mining museum, The mint and big
picture, shopping, Bell’s 50s Milk Bar, Silverton, washing and drying clothes.
A second run in with Victorian folks happened, when in
Silverton, we ran into Jenny and Andrew Lamb (was Mosley) from Masters Games
volleyball teams. Jenny was originally from the Valley and now in Melbourne…amazing.
Some of us went out to the Sunset Desert Sculptures, but we
missed the sunset on what was a windy, dusty evening.
Dinners were cooked at camp or camp Kitchen and variously
consisted of frozen stews from home, chicken kebabs, chicken and chorizo paella
and other things.
Given our camping situation, which is not exactly perfect,
we are very spread out and away from vehicles, so finally after all the clean
up most of us gathered around at the Dundek-Walsh campsite for discussions on
the next day.
